Tsuyama Castle boasts the only one spot in Okayama Prefecture designated as one of top 100 cherry blossom viewing places in Japan. The castle, together with Himeji Castle and Matsuyama Castle, are Japan’s three most celebrated castles built on hilly lands of plains. Regrettably, the keep was demolished in 1837, and only 10-metre high stone walls remain. The tower standing today was rebuilt in 2005.
