Fort Goryokaku, a western-style fort, is considered as a unique and breathtaking spot to view 1,600 cherry blossom trees along the star-shaped moats. The best way to enjoy sakura is to ascend 107-metre high observation tower which also provides good view of Mt. Hakodate, the Tsugaru Strait and the Yokotsu mountain range from afar.
