Fort Goryokaku五稜郭公園

Fort Goryokaku, a western-style fort, is considered as a unique and breathtaking spot to view 1,600 cherry blossom trees along the star-shaped moats. The best way to enjoy sakura is to ascend 107-metre high observation tower which also provides good view of Mt. Hakodate, the Tsugaru Strait and the Yokotsu mountain range from afar. What’s more, during cherry blossom season, tourists can enjoy traditional Hokkaido barbecue under the blooms.
