<p>Edo-period-style constructions, Samurai residences in particular, are well-preserved in Kakunodate, also known as “Little Kyoto in Michinoku”. Samurai residence street was honoured as one of Japan’s top 100 sakura viewing spots for 400 weeping cherry blossom trees, among which 162 trees over 200 years were designated as National Natural Monument.</p>
